Hoolz...for the past two years I have visited and researched many orphanages and charities in Bali. The "bright star" of them all is Anak Anak Bali Kids www.balikids.org. It is one of a very few who have a transparent and audited accounting base and where all the money goes to the children. The Balikids orphanage in Mengwi has 24 children but the most valuable part of the scheme is the Medical Clinic and its mobile vans that travel throughout Bali to MANY orphanages. 600 children per month are given free medical and dental care..an average of 5000 per year. Many things that are given to children in the form of donations are often taken off them by unscrupulous Carers...free medical and dental can not to be taken from the children unless permission is taken away from Bali Kids to provide it.
The current premises are small and rented, but more than $200,000 has already been raised to build an up to date medical base/hospital due to commence end of 2011. Another major part of their work is going into schools and villages to give education on Personal Hygiene/AIDS/HIV. HIV is a major threat to the current generation of children due to lack of knowledge and education. Bali Kids is also almost the only Orphanage that takes in, and treats kids with HIV. I spent many years living in Ballina and now have a prominent business in Tweed Heads. Regardless of which charity you choose I would be more than happy to promote your great cause on my website and through my business. I would also like to attend with a group of people. It is a fantastic idea to have one BIG event. There is such a need to help the kids.
