I dont usually do JBR's so wont give you a blow by blow description, just a few observations.
Flight - Air Asia from Perth was 2 hours late on the way up, which made me think I was going to have to eat my words and resort to Visa on Arrival, but luckily we were out in about 20 minutes.
Food,
we had a few good meals, although Tuban is not blessed with the huge variety of restaurants that are up Seminyak
Warung Laota - Jalan Raya Tuban- very busy and very popular with the Chinese community. Try the whole fish- delicious.
Ma Joly - great as always, especially the Red Emperor.
Pantai - had lunch here most days, and the noodles were great as they always are
Queens of India first time.I'm not a big fan of creamy sauces, but have to say it was excellent! Huge variety of dishes to suit all tastes.
Shopping
Bought a great recycled teak 3m table from Jalan Tangkuban Perahu, Stephens and have a price coming for some Adirondak chairs from Merdeka in the same street. Arranged the cargo to Perth with Trish and cant wait for them to arrive.
The not so sweet?
As I spend quite a bit of time eating lunch by myself at the Pantai, I had a good view of the comings and goings along the beachfront walk.
Since when is it acceptable to start drinking at 9 o'clock in the morning? Also the fireworks on the beach at night. How did that become acceptable? The manager at MaJoly asked a group of bogans to stop as they were disturbing the diners, and was promptly told to eff off, he doesnt own the beach. Embarassing. Lucky for them they had left before the tourist police turned up. Just minor gripes though and altogether a perfect holiday. Just need to start saving up for the next one now.
