Booking flights is really easy to do online, just be careful and check dates and times before you pay. Print confirmation and itinerary and take with you. Make sure you are able to access your email whilst overseas ie at an internet cafe or alternatively your mobile phone will work O/S. This is so the airline can contact you if the flights change. It would be an idea to check you phone or emails 2-3 days prior to departure to ensure no changes.
If you are flying Pacific Blue, they give you the option to purchase travel insurance as you book your flights.
You have many options re securing accommodation - basically what you are comfortable with. Last trip I booked all my accommo on line and had no problems at all.
