We spent Nyepi Day at the Discovery Kartika hotel in Tuban. The parades were awesome...the traffic was chaos and everyone was in a celebratory mood. The eateries up and down JL Kartika were all closed fairly early into the evening....meaning we went out at around 8.30 to get some dinner and the only place close to us that was open was Kafe Batan Waru. I didnt notice much traffic or foot traffic at that time of night as everyone had locked up and gone home in preparation for Nyepi. If you were to stay close to the airport then choose any of the hotels along JL Kartika in Tuban or stay at the Patra (the closest to the airport). Make sure you book your transfers to the airport or arrange when you get there as like I said - the streets were eerily quiet on the eve of Nyepi.
