On his return from Indonesia my husband went to several Doctors in Perth asking specifically for Ciprofloxacin as he feared he had contracted Typhoid & that was the drug prescribed in the part of Indo where he had been.

It took a LOT of hassling & seeing several different Docs here in Perth before he found a compliant one who gave him a script for it. The Docs here really didn't want to prescribe it. We now know why. But husband insisted. There was no immediate adverse reaction but over a few days he got more & more ill - we assumed he had caught Typhoid. On the 3rd day he was extremely sick. Stopped the Ciprofloxacin. Freo Hospital did many tests (cannot praise the Docs there highly enough). That anitbiotic is very strong. Should not be used unless absolutely vital & under close supervision from a Doctor.

Son & I thought he would die.
