I have been going to Bali for 16 years, have been 17 times as well as travelling all through Asia- Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, India etc. I brush my teeth in tap water, eat salads, eat off the cholera carts, have ice in my drinks, never had any immunisations and have never been sick- maybe just luck I guess. Hubby used to take all the precautions, no ice, no salad, bottled water to brush teeth and never ever ate at street stalls and he ALWAYS got sick so a few years back he thought bugger it I get sick anyway so threw all caution to the wind and guess what he has not been sick since!!!!
When I went to India my doc said I would be sure to get Delhi belly as apparently everyone gets sick in India, but I was fine.
I did have a blood test a few years ago and my doctor said I had antibodies to Hep A which according to him means that I have had hep A at some stage, must have picked it up in my travels but it obviously didn't affect me cos I have no idea when I had it!!!!
