1. Yes, the Safari Park is great, well worth the trip. Also worth considering staying the night. Cheap prices on Wotif, Agoda etc..
2. Yes, if you like water slides etc... you will have a great day. Can sometimes get ~ 15% off at the tourist tour booths that you will see all around the place.
3. Ubud is great to stay and see. Heaps different to Kuta/Legian with lots of great restaurants/shops.
4. Haven't done this as we've got young kids but lots of reports of people doing it on here that say it's great. Something we'll look at in a few years.
5. Just use common sense precautions - hand gel often, particularly after touching money and before eating. We don't use the water for anything other than showering. Probably unnecessary to take antibiotics. Available over there thru BIMC etc.. I used to take some with me for my son who has a medical condition but have stopped the last couple of trips.
6. We've never had any jabs. Asked my son's Dr about precautions for Dengue that's around a bit over there at the moment but she's against any sort of jabs etc.. We just took precautions: repellent (Bushman's with deet) night & DAY! Sprayed the room with bug spray before going out to dinner and then used mozzie coils and the plug in mozzie repellers you buy over there in any supermarket. Maybe luck, but didn't get one bite.
7. Been to Bali about 15 times and once to Thailand 18mths ago for my sisters wedding. I guess they're kind of similar but different! Much easier to get around in Bali, just jump in a cab - try for the light blue Bluebird cabs if possible, they are much cleaner etc.. Most fares are under $2. We much prefer Bali - partly because it's so close to us in Perth.
8. Bushman's with Deet.
9. Sense of humour, everything runs on 'Bali time' over there. Buy whatever takes your fancy. A quick conversion in your head will tell you how cheap it is.
10. Always keep your small notes for taxi's etc.. Generally, I always round up to the next 10,000. Don't get sucked into filling in questionaires of any sort or the scratchies on the street, just a con to get you to buy a timeshare.

Relax, have a great time!!
