Yes it is a bit alarming to read that but then again Bali is known for Bali Belly etc, well that was the case the last time I went although hospitalisation and evacuations were rare yet now seem to be the case.
We are taking the family in July and I sort of have a list in my head of what to do/not to do. I will reel it off here and would love feedback or additions/ideas without going over the top or paranoid end of story is we want a lovely holiday without being sick!
1. Avoid dengue- taking precautions with DEET type gel either Bushmans or the locally bought recommended here. Wear it day and night and try to secure room/villa from mozzies where possible. Also no perfume , aftershave.
2. hand sanitizer gel
3. no tap water ever
4. reasonably careful where eat and what eat. have been told never salads.
5. have all recommended vaccinations prior to travel, malaria tablets too.

Any experienced travellers want to add to that or give feedback? thanks.
