I understand that sometimes, if not often, wells are sited near septic tanks. In The Wet the septic tanks fill up & effluent can overflow & seep into water wells. A septic tank in an adjoining property can seep into the wells of places close by.

Restaurants that don't wash ingredients in bottled water may well be the cause of some bouts of gastric problems. But I guess there could be many sources.

It always pays, but especially in The Wet Season, to be hyper vigilant about hygiene. I always use sanitised hand wipes before eating & even wipe my utensils with them (utensils are often hand washed in cold water). Avoid salads & buffets (except maybe at breakfast where there is a fast turnover & most things are cooked). Food cooked to order is the safest bet.

Put a coloured elastic band around your toothbrush as a reminder to use only bottled water. Pocari Sweat is a good electrolyte drink available anywhere - good if you feel dehydrated.
