Speak it on the street and "never English"and you will be excused when you ignore sellers and touts with a miserable look on your face.
One other plus side to speaking German all the time is you will be "Expected" to be a pool chair hog so wont get into a fight when you leave your towel and book on the chair all day whilst you are away eating,shopping and drinking, (this also applies to just about anywhere else you want to holiday) :)
