We have used both Bali Island Horseriding and Umalas. Two very different experiences. I havent riden for over 25 years but my daughter (9) is a very keen rider.
The first we tried in July 2007 was Umalas. We did a morning ride which was a couple of hours and we rode along the beach to Legian and back. You start from the Umulas complex and ride through village and residential area to the beach. There was the opportunity to canter on the beach but at time my daughter was not an experienced rider.
Bali Island Horseriding in 2009 - We rode with a group down throuh vilage to the beach the pictures on the website are pretty accurate of the ride. My daughter who at that time had been riding for about 3 years wanted to go for a canter. The horses apparently respond to voice commands as opposed to reigns and kicking etc and my daughter went for a canter which turned into a gallop on the way back. The horses apparently are very keen to get home and she got a bit of a fright when she couldnt slow it down. Of the two experiences Bali Horse riding had the nicer scenery and route.
