We visited many years ago before it became a well known tourist spot, and prior to my hubby's little episode it had been closed to tourists for a year or so as one of the tigers had attacked someone so hence the reason hubby was so apprehensive! Also they make you sign a waiver to say you take full responsibity if entering, they also advise not to wear perfume, bright colours or make any sudden moves, and when walking away to walk slowy away and not turn your back on them.
We were in Laos a few years ago and saw some tigers caged in an enclosure. They did not look well looked after, they were pacing and seemed agitated. A group of young asian guys decided to show off in front of their girlfriends and started teasing the tigers, poking sticks at them, throwing rocks etc the tigers became more agitated, I could not stand and watch and had a go at these guys but they just laughed and continued to provoke the tigers. I told them they were idiots but it just fuelled them on more. And we wonder why animals attack?!!!!! There is a video on you tube of a guy in Thailand who was teasing the monkeys, he thought it was hillarious, poking sticks at them and chasing them. About 20 of them turned on him and attacked him and apparently he ended up in hospital for over a month, while I don't condone animals attacking for no reason in this case it was well deserved and it is one of the funniest videos I have seen!!!
