"The Balinese" have not sold their souls for a few measly rupiah....in case it's not stating the obvious the profits from the over-development of Bali are not evenly distributed and often the developers aen't even Balinese. Nor are the decisions about such made in some sort of utopian democracy which your argument implies.
Follow your logic-and assuming you're Australian- and you are responsible for the denigration of the Great Barrier Reef, the destruction of old growth forests and climate change. So are you prepared to act?
As for it not being "our" problem that depends on who "we" are, doesnt it?In terms of the environment, "at the end of the day" we're all one.Its a species thing.
If I had a penny for every time we end up at the old banality "if you dont like it dont go" I'd be a rich woman. Is life really no more calibrated than that? I repeat: all strength to those fighting for regulation of development in Bali.
