Not ALL locals are after this, infact the majority probably arent. The majority are friendly to you becuase it is their job to be friendly to tourists... but you can also make genuine friends, who dont just want you to tip them etc.
I find the previous post which suggests that the 'locals' are just after a free trip to aus, and that the OP has been 'sucked in' to be quite offensive towards the balinese. too much of a generalisation.
