Flew out of Perth with Garuda at 7.15 am, uneventful flight, which is what we all wish for..Through immigration in about 30min as usual.
Accomodation.
Matahari Bungalows.
I asked at the time of booking for x2 deluxe rooms ground floor inter-connecting.
So i get x2 deluxe rooms third floor not inter-connecting, the rooms were not next to each other either.
So i went for a wander to reception had a chat with them and were moved the next day. I have to say the staff are always happy to help out if you have a problem.
We actually spent the first few days just lazing around and my personal favourite, just staring into space.
Monkey Forrest.
Twelve trips to Bali and i've never bothered to see the Monkeys at ubud.So my driver asked me why i have never been and i gave him a vague excuse about not being comfortable around monkeys, i also said that i had left my Flak jacket and rifle at home so it was out of the question.
So my driver in his own gentle way, told me to pull myself together and go visit the monkeys, meanwhile, he had already brain washed the kids into thinking that they really wanted to go too.
So we arrived at the Monkey forest, there was a stall out the front selling bananas, i didn't buy any as i figured that they wouldn't take any notice of me if i didn't have food. My Husband who works part-time as a moron, bought a heap of bananas and gave them out to the kids.
When i walked through the entrance, every thing seemed to be quite tranquil so i started to relax and take in the view.
All of a sudden something ran past me and hurled a bunch of bananas in my direction, which i caught, turns out that it was my 16 year old .Before i have time to think a monkey has crawled up my back and i have the dominant male at my feet.
I managed to put on a brave face and surrenderd my bananas, but while this was going on the other tourists started to take photos of me and the monkey that was still on my back, i was trying really hard to contain my inner princess, all i wanted at this point was to get the hell out of there, eventually i did.
My kid's loved it though, must have their Fathers genes.
Hair disaters.
About one week into our holiday my 17 yr old son, announced that he wanted to get dreadlocks and that he had already found a place down the road that did them.
Now maybe i had too much sun on this day and was not thinking clearly i cant blame it on alcohol because i don't drink, but i smiled at him and said "Sure mate, no worries."
An hour later he returns with his hair twisted and standing upright, i'm no rastafarian but they did not look like dreadlocks to me, turns out that they didn't look like that to my 17 yr old either.
It only took one hour of him walking down legian st with people openly pointing and laughing at him, that he decided that his Rastafarian days were over.
We were on our way to Diannes at that time and she was quite horrified with his hair and she gave him a bottle of her home made coconut oil to use in his hair to get the glue out. Oh, i forgot to mention that they used super glue in his hair to keep the twists in place.
So any way Dianne threatened him with death if he did not fix his hair, as she wanted her "Spunky boy" back. He also had to go back to see her the next day to show her his hair, which he did.
Eating.
Yes i ate when i was over there, cant remember any names apart from Tubes, which was a budget saver, nice food and friendly service.
As long as i don't have to cook, i really don't care where i eat.
Shopping.
Kids shopped alot, i didn't buy much, i stocked up on soap and pure coconut oil which i use on my hair.
I went to Genevas and Kampung for a look, kids bought up big there as well.
Waterbom
Got my monies worth there, arrived at nine fifteen and didn't leave till five.
Wasn't feeling the best that day so i hired a gazebo and left the husband and kids to it, spent the day having nanna naps and hopping in and out of the lazy river.
My youngest daughter who is twelve, was devastated that she was not heavy enough to go on the climax ride, i'm sure she will be bulking up before our next trip.
I also went to the coffee plantation again, i find it relaxing and i enjoy walking around the gardens. Kid's started to whinge about walking around gardens so i hissed in their ear to get lost for at least half an hour, so they did.
Tanah Lot.
Awesome, love this place, could have spent days there, nice to stand there and take in the view, without having to say "No thanks" evey two seconds.
Any way i'm running out of time, thanks for reading, hope i didn't bore you.
Cheers.
