I had a similar experience, but with a cheaper umbrella type that I bought from home because I didn't want to risk my proper one with loaders etc.
The streets around Kuta and Legian are a different kettle of fish to the streets at home.
Small plastic wheels are definately a no no and I found pneumatic tyres the way to go.
The new hire shop in Kuta close to the townhouses rented me a stroller that was as good as the one I use at home and thats saying something.
Not much chance of that breaking and if any problems I could take it back to the shop and change it.
What a good thing you were able to get your money back, because often in foreign places this is not possible.
Funny about TJs because an earlier posting said exactly the opposite.
Just goes to show how peoples tastes are different in everything.
