Absolutely not!
AUD is widely accepted at ALL money changers.
If you do 2 exchanges (AUD to USD, and then USD into IDR) you'll lose a percentage in each exchange as per gnik's advice below.
If I may add to that advice, they seem to like the larger denominations and will give you a slightly better rate for $100 or $50 notes than $20,$10 and $5 notes, particularly at the official money changers.
