This was our 27th trip for 23 nights and it is still just as good except that you seem to always go to the same shops and restaurants. Yes we do change restaurants but you always seem to like the ones you are use to.
We stayed at the Yulia Beach Inn for the first 8 nights and were not really aware what it would be like overall. We were there for a look last Oct and thought it would be fine. After checking on the forum a mix of reports made us think maybe this was the wrong decision. Well I can tell you it was great in every aspect from the room (815) and our friend Shirley who stayed in room (831) to breakfast. The breakfast is somewhat limited as people have said but plentiful when you get up to leave.
As most people know the staff at hotels in Bali can make a big difference to your stay and this hotel is one of helpfulness and courtesy. We cannot really say anything indifferent about this hotel other it is in a great location and cost wise good value for the money. After a relative short flight from Brisbane say 5 ½ hours and then the long queue for customs say 2 hours as it took this time, as we will not pay as others will not do, pay for the special service. After this long delay and get to the hotel at say 4 pm you really enjoy a cold drink and then off to Matahari for some goods, well that is what is supposed to happen. Getting to Matahari should not have taken more than a 4 minute walk to get the goods, 'yeah right'. When we left the hotel I must have had a mind lapse, I knew I should have been behind my wife and our friend Shirley (second trip) to keep them moving. Between the hotel and Matahari there might be 20 shops including Circle K, ice cream, clothes, kfc, Bagus watches and many others. Now this is all after 27 trips its not like we have not seen the same shops before and most of the goods are the same.
Well 45 minutes later we get to the steps of Matahari and go inside and of course the fish tank at the start have a few people in it. As most would know when you go in the front of Matahari to go the supermarket you can go to the left or you can go to the right side of the escalator and follow it around to the supermarket. The women know that if they go up the escalator there is shopping up there for three floors so the urge gets to most women well maybe all women as they see the escalator a free lift up
'Not the fish eating your dead skin' and think the goods are what we really want to look at and are up there in the next three floors. Well that's it the supermarket is finished for awhile so I might as well go along and see what I must carry for them so they can have their hands free to check out what else might be interesting to look at and most times buy.
Remember this is only the first day or should I say hours. Then someone says they are hungry and I look at the time and it is 7:30 pm some 3 hours after leaving the hotel to only go to the supermarket and still only on the first floor. I had to put my foot down and say lets go as I needed my peanut butter fix. So off we go to Mamas at Dayu 1 (not the supermarket) to have chicken in the basket and this is really good there.
8:30 comes around and I realize that we have only one way to get back to the hotel without passing Matahari. But how can I do without my peanut butter without going there. So I decided to go without and go down beside Nusa Indah hotel and go back to the hotel. After you turn back onto the main street to go back to the hotel I thought owe no as there were new shops along with the other old ones along that street on both sides all this I thought on the first day, no I should say first 4 hours. More to come.
