Advice re Ubud

I am organising a holiday for my 13yo daughter and myself.
Already have tickets for April 2011 and thinking would be nice to stay in Ubud, somewhere peaceful and friendly, with easy access to yoga, massage, cooking classes and restaurants. Must have a nice pool and aircon!
Our budget is pretty tight.
As I've mostly stayed in Sanur before and am not familiar with Ubud, I would really appreciate any advice on where to stay.
