The airlines give sporting goods a really special deal when those sporting goods are accompanying a paying passenger, other freight carriers don't do that, so be prepared to pay.
Why don't you contact the carriers like DHL and get a price. I think that you will find it extraordinarily expensive. For instance, I have been quoted $300 to ship a board from Byron Bay to Perth, I presume you would want to ship both ways, so expect $600 plus.
If you have already bought Jetstar tickets I think the cheapest option would be to cancel the flights and re-book with a surfer friendly airline (which is really any airline other than Jetstar).
