and our room in the new section was fine,we checked!

Having stayed in a room in Bali infested with bed bugs i know how bad it can be.

The only way to get rid of them is to have the infected room treated by a professional exterminator, it can take as long as 7 days to eradicate them completely and is quite expensive.

Most low cost hotels do not have the luxury of closing down a room for even one day let alone 7 especially in high season.

Bed bugs are rife in Bali but Bali is not alone in the world.

We see quite a few people with bed bug bites on Gili Trawangan 2 weeks ago, most people put it down to mossie or sand fly bites unless they have an allergic reaction.

With the amount of back packers opting for slightly better accommodation in Bali because of price and choice they have had in other parts of the world I feel they are one cause of the spread.

Another is allowing local women to occupy the rooms of some guests and La Walon allows this, some of these women live in far less sanitary conditions and can bring the bugs along with them and there belongings.

you dont have to walk far in Kuta to see places with bed bug problems, just look for the odd mattress left out in the sun, this is a quick fix but short lived solution.

Fly spray will not kill them.

Make sure you put your luggage on the luggage rack provided, not on the floor or bed.

once bitten twice shy. We turn every room we stay in upside down now,it can occur in any hotel as they are brought in by guests.
