at the Bali Garden Hotel I was hassled at the pool by a street tout that got into the hotel via reception because he heard my name and what hotel i was staying at.
He was bothering us from the moment we stared looking at stuff to buy near the art market but didnt have a stall or shop. I was ignoring him while making inquiries with a stall holder about false gold chains, (the stall holder ask where i was staying, I was happy with his product but was unsure if i wanted to buy)
A few hours later at the pool area of the hotel this guy (street tout) turned up and said i have your chains $100 AU each in Rup ( he wished!! lol). I basically told him to go away as i was not dealing with him and wouldnt pay that sort of money anyway.
He was very persistent and when realized I was not going to buy he started to threaten me with death and that i would not be able to walk Bali streets safe again.
I called the manager of the hotel via the pool steward and complained about this tout being let into the hotel and then he started threatening the manager as well.
This guy was going ballistic.
At some point the tourist police arrived at the hotel and took him away. they then came back and told me that i would not see this man again and to ignore his idol threats. They also said his kind are not welcome in Bali.
I must admit i was looking over my shoulder for a few days but never did see him again.
