I think a lot depends on the sort of person you are. If you like to make friends around the pool at a hotel you may find that you feel quite isolated in a villa. Also many villas do not have room service which may be a problem for some.

Villa have many positive points too, you have your own space, large living areas, big frigde, own pool, kitchen so you can make a little snack if you can't be bothered going out anywhere. You don't have to get all dressed etc to go to brecky each morning.

I really love villas. We spend the majority of our time in a villa but usually we stay a few nights at a hotel too as my children enjoy meeting other kids and I quite like meeting people around the pool too.
