You will find that the Dewi Sri will most probably be elevated star and price wise very shortly. A major renovation of the pool, grounds, reception, kitchen and dining has just been completed, it looks fabulous, clean and white. The rooms around the pool in the bungalows, 2 up and 2 down are curently undergoing major renovation to blend in with the pool area. I'm not sure if the 3 storey block will be renovated as well.
Have stayed there previously pre-renos and found it to be quite adequate. The rooms were very basic as was the breakfast, eggs to order, I also had a few dinners here and they were well priced and edible. The mix of families, young/older people, different cultures was good and always found someone to talk to around the pool.
You will find lots of entries in the archives.
The biggest drawback is the laneway to the hotel, the hawkers are quite aggresive and you need to be firm. The laneway is near the memorial and opposite is a good moneychanger and the entrance to Poppies.
