By the way - if you want the contact details of a really good surfing guide let me know. I used a local guy Putu - for $50 US per day he found me good waves and also paddled out with me and got me in the best place in the lineup.
His local knowledge was brilliant - finding waves for a start as it was wet season and pretty much flat in a lot of places most of the time I was there. In particular though he got me in the right spot - e.g. at one stage at Padang Padang there was him and me at the take off zone and around 20 other surfers further down the beach having been unknowingly dragged off by the rip.
This compared with $100 US per day for the ex-hawaii guide I had lined up before getting to Bali who didn't even return my calls when I got over there. Might be a little extra for a couple of extra non-surfers but would probably still be worth thinking about?
