Used to say, "Manners maketh the man." She didn't profess to want to change the world but she was adamant that each of her kids would have respect for person & property. As a parent I do not allow my teenagers to drink in the street, always stand back and let ladies { especially local ladies } pass, and remember your please and thankyous. Folks, we're guests in another country. Yes we want a good time but not at the expense of offending our hosts. I live in a seaside Tourist town where every long weekend and schoolies event brings drunken loutish behaviour. I feel for the Balinese. All my family can offer is to not lower our standards of behaviour just because others forget theirs.
