So we left the Safari park behind and headed down to the Puri Damai,
our "digs" for the next 9 nights. Checked in, grabbed a bite at Corner 66 (ok), then hit the Bintang supermarket to "load up".
Hit the beach that evening for the sunset and wow!, i couldn't believe the amount of people on the beach, by far the busiest i have seen in the last three trip here at the same time of the year.

As the kids are a bit older now, my wife was comfortable with booking a babysitter recommended by a good friend of ours. Cost
was 25000rp per hour....Kids were happy and so were we :o)

We booked Eni about 5 times from 6pm to 10pm, hired a bike and off
we went into the night, shopping and finally having a nice relaxed dinner.

We did some nice places for dinner including:

Pearl....Wow we loved it, the staff, the setting and of course, the excellent food, in fact the Beef Tenderloin i had was close, if not
the best steak i have had. It cost 190000rp plus tax ( the most expensive on the menu) but was worth every cent. When talking to the
chef Jeremy, he mentioned they sourced the meat from Harvey in W.A.
And the dessert, we had the tasting plate, just divine, in fact we
went back there, just for dessert and coffee on another night just to get a second go at it :o).

Chandi....Lovely place and great food, we ordered a tasting plate for 2, which had about a dozen different things on it.

Cafe Jemme, this place was all class, lovely setting (once again),
delicious food and VERY reasonable prices. I had to laugh though,
I had ordered a Bloody Mary and upon tasting turned my nose up at
it, i told my wife that something was missing in it, but i wasn't sure what. Anyway about 2 minutes later, a waiter arrived and asked what was wrong with it! ( i didn't think i was that obvious),
anyway they went back and had another go, no still not right, too much tomato juice....Then another arrived, ahh that's better, by then i was half cut!...anyway the night was going well, but the missus was not feeling to well, so we had to cut the night short
( more on that later).

La Sal..Arrived without booking, sat upstairs, nice setting and food
was pretty good, service spot on, but i think we were spoilt at the other places.

Biku...for lunch, well high tea, what a beautiful setting. We ordered
high tea for all of us, including the kids version, gee you should
have seen thier eyes light up when it arrived, they just loved all the Cup cakes/Fairy bread/Scones and Sandwiches on thier plate. Loved
it and would be back there in a flash...

Cafe Marzano...Kids favourite, Pizza are top notch.

We did the obligatory Waterbom Park with friend who were spread far
and wide in the south of the Island. Busiest i have seen it, but nice
to see that they keep adding both rides and resto's to the place.I
did the New Climax ride, certainly gets the adreniline going the first time you go on it....

Well, everything had gone well on the holiday, we had now been on the island, far and wide, for that last 2 and a half weeks, when all
of a sudden my wife took a turn for the worst ( while out to dinner), off home early on the saturday night, straight to bed, she
had a terrible nights sleep, really high temp that only faded slightly with taking Panamax, in fact this kept up for 36 hours, she
couldn't eat, had a rash, blurred vision, the runs, you name it, she
had it...i jumped on the net and researched Dengue Fever, all the
symptoms were the same, i rang BIMC and asked about it, telling them
all the symptoms...They said to bring her in, we will test, but nothing they can do, but put her on a drip if she was dehydrated, but she wasn't, she new that keeping up her fluids was important. By
the way, the cost to go to the clinic was about 900000rp and 1.7 mill
for a call out ( if i remember rightly), not that mattered, as we had
insurance, but my wife said she will be o.k as they couldn't do much about it anyway....in bad all day Sunday.....

She stayed in bed all day Monday, although manged to get up and move around a bit, but soon tired and went back to bed, her temp, although high, was on the decline. We cancelled our last dinner for
the trip ( Pearl...:o( ) and she was in bed real early again.

Tueday and time to head back to Perth on the 1pm AA flight, she came
to breaky with us, but only mangaed to down half a fruit salad..(by the way we ate at Tommy's, how good are those cold Milo's and French
Toast).

Anyway, she sruggled through the journey home, looking like death warmed up, we got real lucky as the flight was fully booked, but for
three empty seats right in front of us, as soon as the doors shut, i said, quick, grab 'em...she slept most of the way home.

The next day (Wednesday) first thing she did is she went to see her doctor..."you have a virus, go home and sleep it off" was the answer.
No mention of "maybe you have dengue Fever", even though she said she
had been in bali and that's what we though it was. So off to bed again, still not eaten properly since Saturday lunchtime,in fact, her
first meal wasn't until thursday night when she could finally get up
and get around.

She, on my insistence went and saw another doctor, got the blood test
and just a couple of days ago, was confirmed as having had Dengue Fever.

Such a shame to an ending of such a great holiday, but now that she
has recovered, she's keen on the next trip...whenever that might be.

Cheers S
