You will find that the ones purchased here in Australia are locked to the carriers selling them eg. telstra/optus etc.
You can buy them at Rimo, mobile phone shops and phone carriers eg indosat/simpati/proxl in Bali.
You can buy them in various gb for various prices and some last longer than others before you have to recharge. The sim card in them is what gets recharged. You can go direct to the carriers (supposedly cheaper) and they will set it all up for you and let you know how long they will last you etc.
You may find that you can use your mibile phone from Aus with a Bali sim card in can be used as a modem also.
