I believe whatever happened is now over but don't quote me on that LOL. It happened before the 27th July, so I don't now where this date came from in another post. I stayed from 18th July and got very sick on 22nd July. My partner came down with it on the 25th July. Did he catch whatever it was from me? We will never know but he did continue to eat at the buffet breakfast after I got sick until he came down with it. Breafast was deserted on 19th July (our first morning) which I found odd and was like that for another week.
Don't panic, take preventitives and seek medical advice if you get sick and make sure you have travel insurance. This was not your ususal run of the mill Bali Belly, it was far worse and has lasted a lot longer than any other Bali Belly I have ever known anyone to get. And I'm probably more whingey because I have never been sick with gastro in Bali or anywhere else in the world. And yes, it could have happened anywhere in the world, at any time but it happened to the vast majority of people over a period of a few days mid July who were staying at the hotel.
As one poster stated, they shut the main pool for 24 hours due to heavy overnight rains and bombed it with chemicals on the 29th. Problem was the lagoon pool was just a putrid but they didn't shut that. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I am a long time Bali traveller and frequent stayer at the Padma. Would I go back? Probably because I do love the hotel and it's location. Just have the proverbial bad taste in my mouth :)
