Unfortunately its become a bit more of a hassle again on the streets and shops and have noticed like many others who regularly go to bali that they can be a lot ruder to you.I speak some balinese and it has always helped me to get a smile and communicate easily but the last few trips in certain places I have had some really nasty comebacks.Dont like the corner of Rum Jungle road outside the Jayakarta they have started blocking the footpath there so you have to walk around on the road(its a nasty corner for traffic there). Some shop owners there have become very rude and you no longer can browse and not buy without something nasty been said to you.I guess tourism has changed the balinese as its not their way or behaviour so maybe tourists are the reason some and only some have become intolerant of us.CD sellers come non stop to restaurants even when they see another leaving they will still interupt your dinner I know they have to make a living but sometimes it becomes a hassle saying no no no thankyou!Time share is rort in bali with many trying to get you signed up see so many newbees to bali caught up but have even had them ring me at hotel when Ive never filled out anything so must have something to do with the customs passing info on.But best defense say tidak mau terimakasih and smile and wish them good luck and hope for the best to get a smile back then you know why you love bali.
