So next of the rank was mara Safari Park for an overnight stay.
We booked transport from Amed to MSP for 280,000, trip took 2 hours.
We had booked the 2 bedroom Kifaru room with Wotif for $214 usd if i
remember correctly. We arrived at the park at about 11am, checked in,
got the low down on what the package included etc. We got into our
bathers and headed to the "mini waterbom park" situated in the park.
50,000 each..ouch!, kids did have a good time though and we decided to do this during the middle of the day whilst the park was packed
with day trippers, we also grabbed a bite to eat whilst there as well.
we then headed back to our rooms, changed and headed back into the now quieter park, did the safari bus thingo then went and watched the
white tigers being fed, plus did the tiger photo opportunity at the same time.
We then headed back to the room and went for a swim at the hotel pool, took the bucket of carrots provided and fed some deer and tried to feed the rhino, zebra's etc that the pool overlooked.
we then dined at the Tsaro(spelling?) Lion Restaurant and watched the
lions, who were now a bit more livelier than during the day, had a nice, although pricey meal. we then went to the lobby as the staff had brought up the 2m+ Python for all residents to see/touch, my wife
was the first to hold and have the snake wrpped around her neck, which then started a stampede of the once apprehensive folk to take
up the same "challenge".
next morning we headed for breaky quite early, the spread was huge.
The lions were up and about with both the males have a "roaring match", they were all very lively, rolling around, fighting etc. It
was great to see.
We then headed into the park, nice and cool and quiet, we checked out
the kimodo dragons, the white tigers again and did the aquariums before heading back to the room for our tranfer to Legian.
All in all, a good time had by us all. It was worth it for the unique
experience of seeing the lions at night and early in the morning, plus the added advantage of doing the park in the quieter/cooler times of the day.
Cheers S
