JBR June 2010.......... To wrap it up :-
We really enjoyed our holiday as always, the teens were trying at times, more on that soon !!
The BEST part of this holiday is knowing we are going back again at the end of August !!!
I feel very very priveleged as I have never been twice in one year and Bali is my very favourite place.
(Its hubby's 50th so we are going with a few friends to have a truly relaxing holiday !!)
Our 15 year old decided that he would hire a scooter for a couple of days without our permission. His mate staying at the Dynasty is a regular visitor and his folks allow him to get one so he took our son and they got one for him too. Now he had been given extra money to get himself a pair of shoes so that is the only reason he had enough money to do this but we had no idea until the big sister told us. (so she didn't feel bad if anything happened to him) ( fair call I say !!).
He had to come and tell us though as he damaged the bike a little and the guy wanted an extra $150k which of course he didn't have !!
My husband gave the guy a mouthfull for letting an unlicensed 15 yr old hire a bike and pay 40k for 'insurance'...as he did this a lady who I believe is an expat told my husband ' he doesn't need a license to ride a bike in Bali'.....luckily my husband is a very placid guy but he was not happy. Not long after we returned we heard that awful story about the family tragedy where a 16 yr old had hired a bike also. I Thank god nothing happened to our son. He doesn't even ride here in Australia and would have absolutely no idea of road rules in Bali so I shudder to think what he would've been doing !!
We found the traffic pretty bad at times, luckily I like to walk a fair bit and sometimes it was much easier to do that, I did find it very hot though this trip.
Once we were going to meet friends in Kuta for lunch and when we saw the traffic we got the driver to turn around , it was crazy and this before school holidays !!
We also did the High tea at Biku which was really nice......I had champers with mine which was very special. Very full afterwards too !!
Spent a bit of time in Dyana Pura as friends were staying at the Puri Saron...I think the restaurant was called Benny's where we had a couple of nights after dinner drinks and it was very pleasant. Food ok too.
Saw a band at Lucky Day which was good, lots of family groups there so must be a good atmosphere for them.
We didn't do any day trips this time as we have done lots before and wanted to realax. Had planned to do the Rock Bar but the traffic put us off...maybe next trip ?
Ok gang thanks for reading.xx
