JBR...Part 1......3-6th June 2010 ( yes a little late !!)
Our family including 2 teens flew Air Asia out of Perth arriving at about 9.20pm. Flight was good , paid extra for exit row seets (hubby is tall and he was rapt !). Pre booked meals and were really happy with them. Tasty !!
Took about an hour or more ro get through the airport, since our last trip they had moved the VISA payment over to the left as you enter then another line for immagration........its amazing how quickly they can do the visa payment then you just stand there for what seems like AGES with no lines moving. Our man even refused to let more than 2 of us up to his desk at a time ?? It didn't bother us with teens but I wonder what family's with littlies would do ( perhaps he viewed our teens as adults though ??)
Anyhow we were picked up by Tegal Sari at the airport and on our way to Ubud.......YAY
It was quite late by the time we got to TS and as the main Reception is being renovated we were taken to the temporary one (very nice I thought ) and our bags taken to our rooms by the other entry as it is such a long walk to the rooms...........It seemed like we were never going to get there....we were really happy with our rooms, ours in particular was lovely. Great views, lots of steps though and if you have dickie knees like me it's a bit of a struggle !!
So we only had 2 days and nights in Ubud and wanted to havea bit of a look around so after breakkie the next morning we strolled off down towards the Monkey Forrest and did the block to have a good look. Ubud is lovely and definately has a different feel about it to Legian etc.
Couldn't really do much shopping as we had taken 2 ½ suitcases of donations for Smudge and so we were at bursting point !! I did find 3 lovely pieces of silver at UTAMI silver....very happy.
Ate at Casa Luna, Warung Enak and Café Des Artistes and The Pond...all nice, none really outstanding but then I believe sometimes it is what you order or others just the time it tales to relax into Bali time !!
