It was about 18 months ago when I flew from Hedland. I think you can get stuff from Duty Free in Perth and pick it up on the aircraft. Skywent pick up Customs and Quarantine in Perth and they fly to Broome and then back to hedland before the aircraft is declared overseas flight.
The Customs and Quarantine then check you out before flight. The plane takes 2 hours over and two hours back so they check the returning flight. Rest in Hedland overnight, and check the next morning out and the same on return. They then fly back to Perth on the plane. It was during the flight that getting duty free from Perth was mentioned as an option but it may have changed now.
