That said, I regret not going there this trip as i found the difference in price between Charming and the beach cafes and other restaurants worth it as the quality/service and variety more than made up for the extra $2 or $3 per dish.

reading through recent JBRs has reinforced my view that the cost of eating in Bali has risen and often at the expense of quality too.

This is not a complaint or criticism - prices have increased for the Balinese and they have no choice but to pass them on but it makes Bali as a travel option less attractive especially when you factor in the horrendous VOA procedures.
