Maybe you should have made some enquiries before booking the flights using Air Asia via Bali and expecting your baggage to be checked through - and for you to be classified as being "in transit" during your Denpasar stop-over.
Conditions are clearly stipulated in Air Asia's regulations and as another poster has pointed-out to you it is a Low Cost "point-to-point" carrier. You had no alternative but to clear Immigration and Customs on your arrival into Denpasar which naturally attracted the US25 VOA charge - and on your departure from Denpasar, again clear Immigration and pay your Rp.150,000 Departure Tax.
I'm sure it would have still worked-out cheaper than buying a one-way Kuala Lumpur/Perth ticket on another carrier.
Please - before you "shoot from the lip" and cast blame at Air Asia - check the facts first. The problem was caused NOT by the Airline, but by your lack of research and understanding of the Immigration/Customs Requirements prior to purchasing your Air Asia tickets.
