and not all that impressed with the place. Staff OK, deluxe rooms big and ok if you get one with a decent bathroom (ours was in dire need of renovation (gross mould on walls, disgusting tapware and the door was just about falling apart, room 212). TV just a fuzzy, hissy screen. Pool average, not huge or very inviting but adequate. Breakfast was OK, not amazing but certainly enough choices. The thing that really let the place down when we were there (you may strike it differently) were the other guests. I have never seen such a motley bunch of Aussies and Kiwis! On the first day I was looking for the camera as I thought we must have been getting pranked or something - it was that bad. Mainly huge women in tent dresses, frizzy hair and rough as guts. Skinny guys with lots of tattoos wearing their Bintang singlets and all speaking coarsly. Pre-teens swearing in the pool while their parents sat around drinking (we didn't have one swim the week we stayed there). AND we are no snobs, just ordinary Brissy folk who love a good time and a beer. I think we were expecting better because we usually travel to Thailand each year and for the same price we paid for this hotel, we would have got something amazing over there.
