JBR 6th-26th June part four Sanur
Arrived at SBV a little early for check in but no problems, and then introduced ourselves to the others that were staying there while getting a few bintangs out of the big red esky, Alison was definitely starting to feel better as she was prepared to sip on a bintang by the pool. While we were there we had a great mix of people and ages from young couples with children to people who were older than ourselves, I think I'll be safe with that statement as a lot of those staying there were regulars on the forum but everyone got along really well and it was great to have kids to play with when you wanted, always brings the child out of us no matter how old you are. Met some great people that we hope to catch up with again.
Next day checked out the surf along the Sanur reef section and looked good with light winds all day but as Alison was still recovering decided to wait till tomorrow and organised a boat to take me out next morning but that night the trade winds that had been late in arriving this year decided to start with a vengeance and it blew its head off for the rest of our stay, which made the kite surfers very happy.
Hillary and The Kuta Cowboy arrived the following day and brought a Bali virgin with them. It was great to watch the stunned look on his face as he tried to take everything in. Hillary took it upon herself to find him a suitable companion and we're still waiting to hear how this relationship went. The Kuta Cowboy seemed more like a teddy bear the way all the kids just flocked to him, they loved to play games with him whenever he was around.
Again we had some great meals but by this stage we stopped writing things down and I can't remember all of the places we went to. 2 however stand out for the food we chose, Kembali & Jegeg - 1 had the most delicious Chicken Satay in a nicely spicy sauce and the other the best Nasi Campor. We often hunt out restaurants that have live music and I must admit some of the bands around are just playing what they think the tourists want to here and can be truly dreadful. One night when the band started to ask for requests an very elderly lady had trained her grandson or great grandson I'm not sure which to jump up and ask for certain songs to be played, for 2 hours the band was controlled by a five year old, it was hilarious. On a positive note on Thursday nights at the trophy pub 2 mature Balinese muso's playing some fine jazz and blues with feeling unfortunately being ignored by everyone watching world cup worth going to see if you get a chance and Sunday arvo at Ducks Nutz again some great music.
Gardenia cafe became a favourite for a late coffee,(their coffee was delic!) and yummy deserts mmm
Had a few great times around the big red esky with all the other guests , Ron and Irma and look forward to staying here again. Time to pack again and this time to head to Balangan for a few nights and try and get some surfing in.
To be continued
