AA had notices up front on their website that it was being substantially refurbished from 9 July to 11 July. Chances are you just caught the tail end of this process.
Have used and no complaints apart from their not being a mobile version which made it awkward when we were stuck in London with all the volcano problems.
Having said that, their service to assist in those bizarre circumstances put bigger airlines like BA & QANTAS to shame.
