It was as I was walking down Barkers Egg Lane in Legian that I realized that I was wearing a quite imbecilic grin. This a will come as no surprise to many of you who already suspect I am a total imbecile, a hat I wear with pride may I add.
Anyway walking along happily I realized firstly about the stupid smile and secondly that the other day I was watching for the aforementioned barkers eggs in such a paranoid way that I was quite missing the beauty of the day. On this day however I was just so happy that my smile was pasted on. I dodged a couple of motorbikes and only found one pile of you know what to step over and just kept on smiling which made me think about the whole Bali thing.
A few days earlier we checked into a small hotel for 3 nights because our usual spot was full and were shown to a third floor room. Hmm, pretty grungy I thought. We dragged a table and chair from the balcony of the third floor room and felt for the price it would do. All we could see from the window was Legian rooftops.
3 nights later the view over the rooftops from the balcony had become interesting and they dinginess "quaintly Balinese". Don't know how to explain it but there we were booking a nice little bungalow on the ground floor near the pool for next time..... and that is how it is.
We moved into our usual hotel and as we trudged up to our room noted that the stairs were quite dirty, disgusting really. Then what do you know? A couple of days later and who notices the stairs? Were they dirty? I didn't see anyone clean them but they seem to be fine now?
Well, isn't it funny how that happens in Bali?
