This is the exact reason why you have to experience a place for yourself and make your own judgement, for every person that loves a place an equal number will hate it!
We were stuck on Koh Samui for 10 days and were ready to get off after 3!
It's definately better out of Chaweng but really the Island is small and the scenery is rather hohum and the snorkeling sucks, nowhere near as good as Bali.
Hopefully you will be one of the ones that loves the place :)
