My 17th trip to Bali left Air Asia with the $32 flights. Bonus.
I thought we would lash out a bit this time and stayed at the Uma Sapna Villas in Drupadi, Seminyak.
The villa was absolutely gorgeous, own private pool. Decking all around where our breakfast was served every morning. King size bed with beautiful white linen, Bathroom had a HUGE shower, separate bath, vanity basin with 2 bowls - all made of some kind of stone. It was lovely and light and all windows of the villa looked out to the pool and lawn area where 2 sunlounges were.
I just wished this villa was closer in to Kuta/Legian.
We found the restaurants up that end were much more expensive than Kuta area plus always 15% taxes extra.
About 2/3 of the way through our holiday we came across Warung Made which was more our cup of tea and we just had to walk 10 mins. down a laneway and we were there.
So were seemed to be in taxis all the time, and the traffic jams were horrific. I won't be staying up that area again, though I loved the villa. Rumours restaurant which I have read about on here was closed for renovations.
I had some botox done by Dr. Ita when I was there in April but wasn't happy with it so she re-did it at no charge. A bit better but still not completely happy unfortunately. She said next time I have it done I will need more, which I am thinking will be almost as much as we pay here.
We caught a taxi from Galleria and he dropped us off in Bukansari St. I got out the taxi and realised my purse must have dripped on the floor. I had $200 cash to change in it, plus my rp. We tried to chase the taxi but the time when we needed it to be crawling along, it had a good run. We were advised to go back to Galleria and see if he was there. I couldn't even remember what he looked like, so get in another taxi and crawled back to Galleria. The taxi driver told the taxi drivers that were there what happened and one got up, went to his car, opened up the back door and told me to look. And there was my purse still on the floor - all intact. Phew was I lucky. The taxi driver never got another job, so he had come straight back to Galleria.
The rate was gradually going down - started off at around 7800 and the day we left was down to 7600 and some were 7500.
Had some clothes made by a tailor which was recommended on here, but I won't use him again. I took my own material for some of the things and they aren't that good. And every time he came to our villa for a fitting he would never have any pins or a tape measure. He would measure by his finger and say ok, then when we have another fitting, they are still too big or too long or whatever.
I went to get some gym pants made once at a different tailor, and that was a hopeless case, so don't think I will try anymore, especially when you bring your own material.
Ramayana where we have stayed quote a bit, looks great, changes to the pool area and some dining areas. Might try there again next time.
That's about it, nothing great, but caught up on some books and generally relaxed in our lovely villa. By the way it was $183 per night
