I know its their first solo trip and everything - and you are a concerned mother and all that.. but do you really need to be so involved in everything?

Assuming she's over 18 she should be able to sort out these problems herself, and not constantly go running to her mum for help. I travelled solo around the world at the age of 19..and for all the problems i had.. thefts, sickness, no where to stay, running out of money etc etc etc.. i never once called home for help.

I just have one question...you say you had spoke to the hotel manager the night before their departure.. why? Was you checking up on them, or helping them somehow, or was their an actual genuine reason for you to be in contact with the manager.

As for the room thing..is it such a big problem? You've made a bit of a mountain out of a molehill, especially given what they had already done for your daughter..misunderstandings happen in hotels the world over.

I also dont get why you think it makes a difference that it is an australian owned business? In fact.. i think you are much more likely to get this kind of service FROM an australian owned business, than an indonesian owned one.

Yours sincerely
Ben...UK

PS.. i hope your daughter enjoyed the rest of her trip, apart from these two bad experiences, and does let it ruin her love for travel. Bad experiences help you to learn....life wouldnt be fun if everything went to plan.
