Came from Perth on the early AA flight. Apart from the obscene departure time 0450, it was great. Three hours to sleep, then the bonus. We were the only arrival and parked at the furthest aerobridge on the left of the terminal. The walk to Immigration took us about 7 minutes and we entered a deserted arrivals hall. VOA issued and through Immigration in another 5 minutes and our bags were waiting. So was our driver (Daniel, recommended by Sarahbelle). The trip to Candi Dasa took two and a half hours due to major road works (paid for by Australian Government) and extra traffic due to Full Moon ceremonies. Staying at the ShangriLa. Smaller resort than we are used to, but I think we have now met nearly all the other guests. Very pleasant relaxing stay before the kids arrive next week and we move to Nusa Dua. Lots of good restaurants in town. Won't have a chance to try them all but so far - Balissa very nice, and just back from a new opener, Janger - superb!! Two seafood courses for two plus obligatory local ale (pilsener actually) for 200k. They also do Indian, and one of the other restaurants may miss out as we would like to try Janger again.
Weather has been fine except for big rains yesterday morning. Flood alert for DenPasar and rafting excursions cancelled today due to high water levels, Today fine. Sunny with light breeze until late afternoon, then the sea breeze drove us away from the beachfront and closer to the bar. Convenient!!
