Many of the shops will only sell wholesale. Not all, obviously, but the places that had the most interesting and unusual things ended up being very disappointing for us because they wouldn't sell unless it was for a wholesale order.
We didn't end up buying a whole lot, really. Good prices but a lot of repeated things just like around Kuta. If we'd spent a lot more time and looked through more shops we may have found more gems, but it was a hot day and we just weren't up for km's of walking. We'd check out a stretch, get in the car and drive for a bit, then stop again when someone saw something they wanted to check out.
Maybe something to do fresh, rather than after a big half day trip out like we'd done.
