Again rise early. Mr 50 is moaning and groaning -hmmm...hungover. Off for our early morning walk and watch a very large group of Javanese doing their morning exercises to very groovy music with lots of trainers -nearly wanted to jump in(said nearly). Mr 50 wants to cut short the walk so we return for breakfast. This morning not only has Augustus Gulp arrived but also Violet & Veroca. Mr 50 takes one look at me and beats a hasty retreat to our room. So down for our daily massages at Melasti. I love the reflexology, so all others follow suit. Upon exiting, my friend L begins to slap me hard. L's idea of a massage is a 'tickle'.So after the reflexology she is now convinced that her carves and feet have been 'b#@%h slapped'. As she has a soothing eye pillow over her eyes -she is very concerned where they were going to attack her next! I find it relaxing and have a high threshold of pain.Mental note-if you like a 'tickle' massage do not pick reflexology! Leave directly from Melasti in a bluebird cab to show Kez, Pop, Miss 16 & G- Kuta. Driver tells me that yes things are very bad between the bluebird taxi drivers and the others 'lots of threats & fighting'. So sad. Get dropped off at Discovery and I make a bee line for Breadtalk. Just one fiery floss roll, well 2, maybe 3, hell load up and share with everyone right? Anyway it's been at least 1 and half hours since breakfast. Kez comes out of a Ralph Lauren Shop and looks at us and says 'hey -all their stuff is fake!'In unison we all reply 'yep'. Now where is Pop? In case you haven't guessed it yet-Pop is our group's LCD (Lowest Common Denominator). He is outside surrounded by the ladies with the clipboards! We finally prise Pop from his adoring fan club ( who are each licking an ice cream courtesy of Pop. Walk to Matahari, where Pop has bought the aftershaves on special. Again waved off by his new fan base. Go to look at the Revlon counter. Look, I know they are cheaper than in Australia but seriously, you could fit all the products in a shoebox and still have space! Or do I always arrive just after a stampede of Aussies have hit the counter? Arrive back at Padma ready for arvo drinks and to get ready for the greatest night ever. I say that because I have been planning this night (especially for me) for months. I have read, reviewed & fantasized about 'the Rock Bar' for months. I had ordered drivers to take us to the Rock Bar and other drivers to then take us on to the Jimbaran Seafood Cafe. Kez and I return to my room to deposit our shopping and there it was............Mr 50 has Bali Belly!!!
NO NO NO.
Ok with heavy heart I organise everyone to go and I stay behind to nurse Mr 50.
After dosing, dabbing, sympathising, walking up Padma road for lemonade & salted chips I settled down with my room service. Then the phone rings. The driver can't find anyone at the Rock Bar to take to the next destination. 6 phone calls and cold room service food later, we agree there is nothing more that can be done. Everyone arrives back at 11pm declaring the driver was 25mins late so they made their own way to cafe -hmmmm funny about that. Assured me the Rock Bar is over-rated and it was expensive, windy & boring. Stated the cafe was crap.
Really?
All suddenly say 'Nah, can't lie, want to make you feel better but it was totally awesome, loved it!
Comments like 'once in a lifetime experience, magnificent, beautiful & stunning'. The cafe was delicious, fun and all of the above again.
Suddenly hear Miss 16 calling me from her room.
'Oh yeah, your daughter's throwing up - see you in the morning'
So my great evening ended holding my daughter's hair as she emptied the contents of her 'once in a lifetime event'!
