... we have taken our kids several times and touch wood have never had them get seriously sick. We've never done any of the preventative stuff (eg raspberry cordial) but have made sure they always drank bottled water. The couple of times they have been unwell its generally been from heat stroke / dehydration which is easy for kids to get when they are loving the beach and want to stay for hours! So yes your electrolyte stuff will be great to have on hand :-)

On the few times they have got a mildly upset tummy / runs (which I believe is from the change of diet more than anything else) I've given them some of the charcoal tablets you can buy very cheaply locally - they are fantastic and work very quickly. In fact I always bring a few packets home with me now for use after over-indulging ;-)

I agree with the other advice to take them to the local Doctors if they get really unwell :-)
