Here is the info my doctor gave me:
Initially the Merieux Inactivated Rabies Vaccination (MIRV) shots are a series of three.
The first two shots you have within a couple of days of each other and the third shot is given 28 days later. So a month pre-travel is ok.
One year later you return for a fourth shot to build up your immunity.
Then if you still require them, you have one every two years.
Quotes i received:
Chemist quoted $345 for the first three.
Travel Doctor quoted $336 for three.
Tip:
Take the vaccine straight to the doctor's clinic to store until you are vaccinated, or leave with the chemist until your doctor's appointment. Don't take it home as it needs correct refrigeration.
