Hi we had same on our flights in May. Had booked direct then got changed to via melbourne, I rang many times about getting back on a direct flight that day was told no flight cancelled had to go on the melbourne flight. When I arrived at DPS airport to checkin there was a direct flight to sydney with virgin that night on the screen but when I asked why couldn't I be on I was told agin there is no direct flight tonight. They are probably selling that flight to get passangers booked ( bums on seats) but in the end they will probably all be merged onto the same flight you have been swapped onto.
