you're brave just to have that many children so I'm thinking a holiday wouldn't be as daunting to you as many with only two children.
We have taken our two from 10 months - 5yo and the milton tabs come in very handy. The tip about having a room near the pool is excellent and something we kick ourselves for not doing when we don't do it.
Man, the kids LOVE Bali, in fact they ask to go back weekly, give it a go.
Push the hotel to provide a portacot, thats silly that they won't provide it, I'd even go elsewhere and get a hotel that will do such a small thing for you. Having 4 children to get out of customs with will be hard enough with your luggage without having a portacot or two in tow.
My hubby hates the pram and would rather carry the kids and take taxi's, I quite like the umbrella type stroller. Definitely a personal thing. I can't imagine you'll get far around Bali with a pram that holds 4 kids, sounds a bit big for their pathways or lack of. The umbrella one is easy as I can just pick it up when required.
We have friends who babysit for us so the kids don't have to go out every night for dinner, which tires them out a lot, thats amazing to have dinners with hubby on our own every second night. She also looks after them during the day sometimes and they enjoy the kids clubs and hotel.
Good luck.
